Tha aim of the Guide is to enforce all what can contribute to the improvement of the quality of the reinforcement placed in concrete, particularly taken into account the different roles of designers and cut and bent companies. Enclosed are a general presentation of the reinforcing steels and manufacturing routes, a reminder of requirements, a reminder of all what is necessary to assure that the shape is completely defined, recommendations for facilitating the manufacturing and of the fixing of the shapes, ideas for a global optimisation of the reinforcement. Issue of NF EN 10080

The standard NF EN 10080, French version of the EN 10080, was published by AFNOR on the 20th September 2005. This standard is the basis for CE marking of the concrete reinforcing steels and decoiled products.

Issue of the "arrete" for CE marking of reinforcing steels

The "arrete" and the "avis" putting in force the CE marking of concrete reinforcing steels and decoiled products were undersigned ont he 22th August 2005 and published in the offical journal of the French republic on the 15th September 2005. The "avis" confirms that AFCAB is the only body that is notified by the French member state for these products.

Revision of the EN 10204 standard

The NF EN 10204 revised standard "Metallic products - Types of inspection documents" was published by AFNOR on the 20/01/2005. The former "3.1.B" certificates, which are requested in some AFCAB certifications for the procurement of semi-finished products become "3.1". Contribution of AFCAB for wording schedules of conditions

The document providing the experience of AFCAB to word schedules of conditions for concrete reinforcing steels is now updated. This document takes into account the evolution of the terminology and of standardisation. In particular, the mark "NF-Armatures pour béton armé" became "NF-Aciers pour béton armé"and the mark "NF-Armatures industrielles pour le béton" became "NF-Armatures". Moreover, the new XP A 35-014 standard concerning stainless reinforcing steels is now published.

Stainless reinforcing steels

Following the publishing of the XP A 35-014 standard concerning the stainless reinforcing steels, Idinox and Cimbeton just published the book "Béton d'inox" (stainless reinforced concrete), for designers and owners of constructions in reinforced or prestressed concrete. New NF A 35-027 standard

A new version of the NF A 35-027 standard was issued on the 20th january 2003. This standard deals with decoiled, cut, bent, assembled, and/or coupled concrete reinforcing steels. This new version replaces a text dated 1995. Among other modifications, please remarkthe transformation of the title in "Armatures" from "Armatures industrielles pour le béton", and a text more "performance oriented" than the former version. It can be ordered on "www.normesenligne.fr". The NF rules "NF-AIB", concerning these products are consequently in course of rewriting to follow this new version of the standard.

Simplified tensile tests for the welded reinfrocing steels

AFCAB implements a simplied tensile test procedure, requiring no measuring instrument, to enable a better check of welded steels within the cutting bending and welding facilities. It does not replace the bent test but may be used as an alternative. To download, see "Quality documents".
